(Apparently This Needed Its Own Post!)
Over the past few weeks I’ve had quite a few people asking me:
“Do you have the dates for your networking meetings?”
Which is absolutely fine… except that the dates are already on Eventbrite, Facebook and LinkedIn.
But clearly they’ve been hiding from some of you. So I thought the simplest solution was to gather them all together here in one place.
Problem solved.
I’ve been attending networking events for many years now.
Some have been brilliant. Some have been memorable for different reasons. And most of them had at least one thing that worked really well.
But there was always something that didn’t quite fit.
Very often the challenge was simply the environment.
Many networking events take place in cafés or busy venues where the background noise makes proper conversation difficult. Coffee machines whirring, other tables chatting, people passing through, children playing — all perfectly normal things for those spaces, but not always ideal when you’re trying to have a focused conversation about someone’s business.
And there’s another side to that as well.
While we’re trying to network, the people around us are often just trying to enjoy a quiet coffee. It can feel like we’re intruding on their space as much as the noise is intruding on ours.
So when I decided to create my own networking group, one of the things that mattered most to me was having the right environment.
Alice Court provides exactly that.
The meeting space is calm, comfortable and separate from the everyday bustle you often find in cafés. It allows conversations to flow naturally without feeling rushed or distracted.
And there’s something else I really like about hosting the networking there.
These luxury care homes are genuinely beautiful spaces — thoughtfully designed, welcoming, and often not somewhere the public would normally get to see inside.
By bringing our networking group there each month, we’re creating a little bridge.
Local business owners get to discover these venues and experience the atmosphere for themselves. And in return, the homes get to welcome members of the community through their doors and start conversations that might not otherwise happen.
It’s a small but lovely exchange.
The meetings themselves are very relaxed.
There are no forced 60-second pitches, no pressure to perform, and no complicated structures to follow.
Just a group of local business owners, professionals and freelancers coming together to talk, connect and support each other.
Sometimes those conversations lead to collaborations.
Sometimes they lead to new clients.
And sometimes they simply lead to good conversations with interesting people.
All of those outcomes are valuable.
The group meets every second Wednesday of the month at Alice Court in Eastbourne.
The events are free to attend, but registration is required as spaces are limited.
There’s no pressure, no formal pitches — just good conversation with people who understand what running a business actually looks like day to day.
