One of the things I always do after hosting a networking event is send a short message to attendees the following day.
Partly to say thank you for coming along, partly to stay connected, but also because I genuinely value feedback. When you’re creating a space for business owners to meet, it’s important to know whether the room worked for the people in it.
Yesterday we held the first Let’s Meet Up networking morning at Alice Court in Eastbourne, and as it was a new venue I was especially curious to hear how people found it.
One of the attendees, Caroline Small from Pushing Up Daisyz, very kindly sent this reply:
“Really enjoyed the meeting, such a great venue and the topics of conversation were very interesting. Nothing needs changing just keeping doing what you are doing. You were an amazing host.”
Another attendee, Rich Hollands from Trinity Homecare beat me to it, he sent me a message on WhatsApp:
“Really enjoyed the meeting this morning and thanks for organising — look forward to next month's meeting.”
Feedback like this means a great deal to me.
Networking events are often judged by numbers, but in reality the quality of the conversations in the room matters far more than the size of the room.
Yesterday’s meeting was a small but incredibly well-balanced group of local business owners, each bringing different skills and experiences to the table. What struck me most was how naturally everyone’s work complemented one another.
Those kinds of connections don’t happen through forced pitches or rigid networking formats. They happen when people have the time and space to simply talk.
That’s exactly the environment I try to create with Let’s Meet Up.
A calm space.
Good conversation.
And genuine connections between local businesses.
So thank you again to everyone who joined us at Alice Court — and a special thank you to Caroline and Rich for taking the time to send such thoughtful feedback.
