I had to travel to Eastbourne today to meet a client, so I decided to make a day of it and finally begin working on a project I’ve been harbouring for a while…
As a Virtual Assistant, I don’t always need to be sitting at my desk to work. Sometimes I’m between appointments, meeting a client or simply in need of a change of scenery—and I know I’m far from the only person looking for welcoming places where we can open a laptop, hold an informal meeting or quietly get something done.
So today, Work From Here officially began.
My first stop was Foundry Coffee in Grove Road. I’ve always loved this part of Eastbourne.
Grove Road and South Street form the heart of Little Chelsea: a bustling, increasingly cosmopolitan neighbourhood filled with independent shops, cafés and businesses.
The area has shifted considerably in recent years. What was once a fairly familiar town-centre mix has developed into a colourful hubbub of different cultures, countries, food and ideas.
It feels creative, independent and full of personality—the perfect place to begin.
My second stop was Coffee & Carrot in Cornfield Road, only a short distance away but with a completely different feel.
Cornfield Road sits on one of the main arterial routes through the town centre, lined with restaurants, estate agents, hairdressers and other businesses.
Coffee & Carrot is an Alice in Wonderland-themed café with a delightful outdoor space which, on a sunny day like today, feels almost continental.
There may be traffic passing by, but that simply becomes part of the atmosphere as you sit outside and watch the world go by.
Two cafés. Two very different settings. Two proper working sessions—and the first two venues to be put through my real-world Work From Here assessment.
